In doing this they predict possible attitudes that the generation to come will view this medical practice. They delve into two guiding factors, animal rights and integrity of healing practices and discuss the pros and cons of both. A Beacon of Hope: Fatehpur Sikri and Akbar’s Vision as a Symbol of Peaceful Co-Existence for Hindus and Muslims

10/12/2020

Comments

Author: Drsika Chopra

Reviewer: Vaishnavi Sreenivas, Master of Science, University of Edinburgh

Reviewer's Note:
This paper expertly analyses and argues the significance of Fatehpur Sikri as a symbol of religious coexistence in the history of India, which needs to be highlighted amongst the communalist tendencies in the current Indian climate. The paper carefully uses data collected through three forms of ethnographic studies and presents a structured argument that manages to cover a significant amount of historical and political contexts which shed light on one of the most crucial conflicts in India today. Though it uses politically and culturally loaded phrasing, it raises very important questions about the discourse of alienation between Hindus and Muslims in the current political climate and how history and historical remnants can be used to influence this discourse in a positive manner.
